So, my husband was shot in the face...
Yeah, that's what I told my mom. Her reaction was priceless.
It's true, though. Daniel was shot in the face. With a gun. Here's the story:
About two weeks ago, Daniel was driving along in his school bus--minding his own business, taking the kids home--when he heard a loud pop, or a bang kind of sound, and at the same time his chin started throbbing. A few moments later he was oozing blood (which was what I saw on his shirt when he came home. It scared me to death!) and trying to figure out what had happened. The inly thing he could figure was that a rock had flown up through his open window and hit his jaw and then fell back out.
So, the next few days his chin kept oozing pussy-bloody gunk (yuck, I know) until it finally stopped. There was still quite an abscess on his jaw, though, and after awhile he could kind of move it around under the skin. Well, we did the math and figured that the rock had hit his bone hard enough to chip it, and the bone chip was still floating around in the skin mass--kind of like when I broke the tip of my index finger.
Well, yesterday, he finally went in to the doctor--now that he knew what was wrong--to see about getting the bone chip removed. The doctor obliged, and voila! Out came the little chunk.
Only it wasn't a bone chip. It was a BB. Yup, a BB.
The doctor gave him a nice little stitch back up and sent him home--BB and all. He's keeping it in a little dixie cup for now...
Once Daniel realized what had actually happened--someone was shooting at him, instead of a rock flying up through the window--he went back and looked at his bus. There are little dings all up and down the side of it where it has been hit with BB's.
We're just thankful that they didn't aim any higher, otherwise Daniel could be missing an eye. Scary, huh?
