Nine months. Wow.

On the eve of Lynny's nine month birthday I thought I would post a little about what's happening with her at this point.

1. She's still nursing exclusively (the only time formula has ever touched that girl's lips was when she was a few days old and I was freaking out that she wasn't eating enough.)

2. She sleeps really well at night, as long as she's in bed before eight. Otherwise she wakes up at least twice.
3. Food is a big subject with Lynny. She is a great eater. She's never picky, except when it comes to how she is fed. She will not let you feed her from a spoon. She'll occasionally let you place food in her mouth with your fingers, but mostly she just wants to do it all by herself. If you try to feed her with a spoon she just steals the spoon and stuffs it in her own mouth. She's very independent in that regard.
Her favorite foods are bananas (which we just hand her whole and she eats the whole thing in one sitting), omelets, chicken, gingersnaps, and whatever her parents happen to be eating at the time.
And she loves to share her food. It's not uncommon for her to suddenly stop eating and hold her food out so you can take a bite. She's very generous in that way.
4. She loves her mommy and daddy. Daddy is definitely the preferred parent when it comes to playtime--he manages to get a good belly laugh out of her every time--but I'm preferred for most other things, especially when she wants comfort.

5. Lynny has four words and one sign. She says Mommy (which sounds more like MmmmA!) and Daddy (A-da), hi (ai) and bye-bye (bah-bah). She also signs "all done" when she's done eating and ready to get out of her high chair.
6. Lynny loves to wave at anyone and anything. I'll often find her looking out the window and waving at the neighbor's dog across the street. She'll also wave at pictures on the wall or mantle.

7. Her favorite activities include going outside, going for rides in the car, being thrown onto the LoveSac, holding onto Mommy and Daddy's fingers while walking, rolling over during diaper changes, turning the lightswitch on and off, and anything that involves climbing all over Mommy and Daddy.

8. She still isn't exactly crawling, but she does scoot backwards and around in circles on her belly. Also, we'll put her down on the floor and she'll somehow manage to move to about three feet from her starting position without ever crawling or even going onto her belly. We still haven't figured out how she's doing it.
9. She can pull herself to standing when she manages to get to something she can pull up on. Her favorite place is the side of the bathtub, but that makes me nervous. Even with a mat she can still slip!
10. She has a thing for shoes. She loves to look at them, feel them, wear them, and eat them. I can't explain it.
11. We haven't had her nine month check-up yet, but she's about twenty pounds and pretty tall (at least compared to all the similarly aged babies at church.) We'll see what the doctor says on Monday.
12. She has five and a half teeth, with two more about to burst through. That girl is going to have a full mouth of teeth by the time she's one, I swear.
Well, that's a small glimpse at our little girl!

Vegas, Disneyland, and so much fun!

We got back from our trip on Sunday night, but I still feel like I'm recovering. I guess it takes a while to readjust to normal life after four days of amazing fun!
We started our drive on Tuesday night, around eight and stopped in Vegas for the night. Our really good friends let us crash on their air mattresses and eat their cereal the next morning. Thanks Mike and Tandi!

We walked around Vegas for a couple hours (Daniel and Jessica had fun remembering their choir trips from high school) and we even stopped at The Pearl Factory to get a pearl to replace the one that fell out of my engagement ring a few months ago. It's so nice to know I can wear it again!

Then we hopped in the car and drove to California. We got there a little later than we expected, but we decided to try and hit up the beach even though the sun was going down. We got there just after dark, but still had fun. Lynny has officially touched the Pacific Ocean!

The next day the real fun began: Disneyland! We had so much fun, and we managed to get to every good ride in Disneyland and California Adventure at least twice. Lynny's favorite ride was Pirates of the Caribbean. She waved to all of the pirates as we passed and thought the cannons were fascinating.
I'll admit I was a little disappointed in the rides--they were just like any amusement park rides--but the atmosphere was something to behold! Completely surrounded by Disney magic, I love it. We're definitely going back when Lynny's older. I can't wait.

Here are a few good pictures from the trip.

Daniel braved the water more than I did.

There she is: touching the ocean!

It was so nice of them to name their ice cream parlor after us.

I saw this painted on the wall and had to get a picture. I think it's one of my favorites of me from the whole trip.

Here's Lynny looking a little sleepy right before we took her on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. And here she is after the five minute ride. That's right--she crashed at the loudest, brightest point of the ride. She was sooo tired.

We almost got these for her, but she wouldn't keep them on. We ended up getting her a beanie with ears instead. She just thought that was like her beanie at home.
Everyone hates standing in line, except for Lynny. She thought it was great!
Lynny and me, sporting our "First Visit" buttons. It was so much fun!

In Toontown, by the fountain.

Waiting in line for the Roger Rabbit ride. Lynny had just woken up from a much-needed nap.

Mike and Tandi joined us on our last day in the park. Mike played with Lynny almost the whole day. I think she has a new best friend.
