1. Where did you meet your husband?
Daniel and I met working in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I was a whitewater guide and he was a bus driver for the same company. We both kind of knew who each other was, but we didn't officially meet until I desperately needed some help with my Blazer. I asked the camp handyman if he could fix my back window (which wasn't rolling down) and door (which wouldn't open). When he said he was too busy, Daniel offered. Neither of us really fit into any of the little groups that were forming among the other employees so we took to hanging around each other. And he just couldn't get rid of me when the summer was over--I kept hanging around until we started dating and I finally convinced him to propose the following Christmas.

2. How long did you date?
We officially began our courtship on August 11, 2007 (I think...) and Daniel proposed on December 29, 2007. And then we got married on April 26, 2008. So, from beginning to end: eight months-ish.
3. How long have you been married?
We hit eleven months next week. Almost a year...weird.
Just before our reception in Virginia, April 2008. The weather was perfect and Sydney took the most amazing pictures for us. I love the contrast of the old barn just behind us.

4. What does he do that surprises you?
Daniel gets a kick out of surprising me. He gets an even greater kick out of telling me he has a surprise and watching me get all worked up as I try to figure out what it is. He knows I hate surprises, so he messes with me quite frequently. But he's very good about remembering the small things. Like bringing me flowers on flag day, of all days. And on Valentine's day he brought me flowers a day early because he knew I would be expecting them the next day. He even had my friend take me out for a few minutes so he could set up the flowers and rose petals on the bed for when I got home. And one of his greatest surprises was when he showed up at my grandparents' house while my mom, a couple of my sisters, and I were visiting them to surprise us all with water from the family spring in Montana. My ancestors built their homestead next to that spring and a piece of the foundation from their home is still there. My family has been going to visit the spring for generations and this past summer was one of the first that none of us would be able to go. He filled a couple big containers with the water from the spring--one especially for Gramma--and drove to bring them to us. It may not sound like a big deal, but it was. A few of us cried, and Daniel got major points with the inlaws.

The family on the foundation, next to the spring, during the summer of 2007. That was the last time we were all there together. Notice the cup in Anna's hand? Full of crisp, clear spring water.
5. What is your favorite feature of his?
Honestly...his "neard." Daniel can't grow a beard to save his life. It all grows on his neck, hence we've started calling is his "neard." I just think it's kind of funny that he keeps trying, even though we all know nothing will ever grow above his jaw. Plus, he looks like a fairy-man without it.

6. What is his best quality?Daniel has an incredible ability to love unconditionally. Even when I was driving him crazy in Jackson, he wouldn't ask me to leave him alone. And he cares more about his friends, and especially his family, than I think most people can comprehend. Whenever someone is in any sort of trouble or is making poor decisions he feels like he should be doing something to help them, even if there isn't anything he can do. He feels a great amount of responsibility as the oldest grandson in the family, and he takes that responsibility seriously. I've never met a more dedicated family man. I can't believe I was so lucky to marry him!

7. Does he have a nickname for you?
Surprisingly, he is one of the few people in the world that never calls me Em, even though I would love for him to do so. He calls me Emile, or "Babe." Never "Baby," though. That just weirds us both out.
8. What is his favorite food?
Meat. He's a big steak and potatoes kind of guy, so he's easy to please. But he likes trying new stuff, too, which is great. I don't think I could have married a man who was a boring eater.
9. What is his favorite sport?
Uhhh. Good question. Neither of us are particularly inclined towards athletics. We do enjoy watching football, however, and occasionally engage in that. And I'm pretty sure he likes basketball. Maybe?
10. When and where was your first kiss?
My old boss would die if he knew our first kiss was on a camp bus in Jackson Hole, after curfew, when we were both supposed to be in our tents--or somewhere other than in a camp bus. I had tried to kiss him the night before, but (being the gentleman that he is) he told me to think about it and make sure that I wanted to make that move; it would change our entire friendship, and was I willing to do that? Despite the lame location, it was the best (and last) first kiss I've ever had. To this day I have a great affinity for school buses. I think I always will.
11. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We both love being outside. We love hiking, camping, swimming (especially through Snake River rapids), and off-roading. Food is also a great hobby of ours and we love to eat together. We have a list of restaurants that we want to try, as well as a pile of recipes that we're working through.
12. Do you have children?
We will in June! Carolynn Lee (Lynny) is due June 18, 2009 and we can't wait!
13. How old is he?
Daniel is 25 years old. And I'm only 21. It doesn't seem like a huge age difference until you talk about things like when the movie Titanic went into theaters. It was one of the few PG-13 movies I saw before I was actually 13 and he was already in high school. Strange.
14. Who said I love you first?
Daniel said it about 2/3 through the summer of 2007, but he clarified that it was purely in a "frienshippy, platonic way." I said it about two weeks after we started dating while we were camping with some friends in Moab, when I also informed him that I planned to marry him. (I'm surprised he didn't run for the hills.) He followed suit about a couple weeks later as I was leaving his house to drive back to Provo after a late night of watching TV with his parents. How romantic...not.
15. What is his favorite music?
He likes just about everything, including punk (which I find annoying). We joke that he's a closet country-lover, even though it's not exactly a secret.
16. What do you admire most about him?
Daniel is extremely curious. He always wants to know what will happen if... Like the time he hooked all four of the canoe trailers up behind one vehicle, just to see if they would fishtail. They did, duh, and he was satisfied. And the time he drove his Ford Escape through a big puddle in Moab--going a little deeper each time--just to see how deep he could go. Apparently four feet was too deep. The Escape never started again.
Blue, same as me. But he likes a lighter shade. I'm more of a navy-blue girl, myself.
18. Will he read this?
Maybe. If I print it out and hold it in front of his face for a little while, he will.

I have always admired ford escapes, it's one of the cars i might get when i'm old, even though it's Ford. That really ticks me off Daniel, i'm very much a car person.
That was great! Now I feel like I know Daniel a little bit!
neard...funny :)
